Forensic Science in Literature

Coming Soon! I thought it would be nice to have a list and a little bit of information/reviews about some of the forensics books out there. Here's a couple, just a sample, I have a great deal on the way, this is just a free sample!

The Casebook of Forensic Detection by Colin Evans

This is a great book, with two or three page anecdotes about each of the 100 crimes featured, and how the clues were put together, and how eventually forensic science pulled through to solve the case. This is an excellent book that I have read, and would definitely recommend.

The Forensic Science of C.S.I.  by Katherine Ramsland

This is one of the best books about forensic science out there, especially for the devoted CSI fan. If youve seen most of the episodes, and more importantly if you can recognize them be name, this is a book for you! Whenever Ms. Ramsland is talking about a specific procedure, she will refer you to what episode you can see it in. I think this is very helpful, because not only can you have a vague idea of what shes talking about, but if youre a real addict with the tapes, you can go back and watch. This book is very informative and appropriate for any lover of forensic science.

Dead Reckoning: The New Science of Catching Killers by Michael M. Baden and Marion Roach

This book has information about numerous topics such as autopsies, murder scenes, blood-splatter analysis, the life cycles of blowflies in carrion, DNA fingerprinting and the methods for identifying unknown victims by their skulls, teeth and bones. Theres also some information about forensic botany and climatology. Baden was the former medical examiner in New York for over 25 years, and he also hosts the popular show on HBO Autopsy.

Crime Science Methods of Forensic Detection by Joe Nickell and John F. Fischer

Just about your average forensic book. This book deals with more about the technological aspects of forensics, and the fingerprint section is a little difficult to get through, but this is a pretty good book.
